One Muhammed Aslam, a Pakistani national, was yesterday convicted by the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, after admitting to a charge of making, or having in his possession, paper or implements for forgery.
He was convicted and sentenced to a fine of D25,000 in default to serve 18 months in prison.
The charge sheet read in court stated that Muhammed Aslam, on 12 July 2013, at Latrikunda German, in the Kanifing Municipality, was found having in his possession a stamp pad, six photocopies of Pakistani and Indian passports bearing the names of one Muhammed Faroq and his family, visa application forms for Tunisia, Schengen and Switzerland, expired air tickets among other documents, all forged or meant for the purpose of forgery, and thereby committed an offence.
