The economic crime case involving one Erick Jatta was recently mentioned at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul before Justice Emmanuel Nkea.

According to the particulars of offence, on 29 June 2013, in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused, Erick Jatta, as a Gambian citizen, was engaged in foreign exchange dealings, which was detrimental to the economy of The Gambia.

The accused person denied the charge preferred against him when it was read over to him in the language he claimed to have understood.

The state prosecutor then applied for an adjournment to enable him to call his witness, and his application was granted.

The case at that juncture was adjourned.

The court then said the accused person’s bail, granted to him at the lower court, would continue.
