The Kanifing Industrial Tribunal has set 16 November 2011 for the defendant, Ocean Bay Hotel, to address the court after its counsel announced they had closed their case.
The defendant is facing a civil claim filed by their former employee, Mama Cham Deen, for wrongful termination of her services.
This was announced on Wednesday, 26 October 2011, after the second defendant’s witness, Alice Secka, the acting human resource manager of the hotel, was called back to tender some documents through her.
When reminded of her oath, the witness admitted that she told the court that Kumba gave the plaintiff a sheet of paper to answer questions.
At that juncture, the defendant’s counsel showed her the said document, which she recognised and was admitted and tendered as exhibit.
The defendant’s counsel also tendered the plaintiff’s termination letter and a bank cheque meant as the plaintiff‘s payment, which could not be delivered to the plaintiff before the matter was brought to court.
They were accordingly admitted and tendered as exhibits.
The case was then adjourned till 16 November 2011 for address.
