National Youth Service, in close partnership with The Gambia Employment
Programme, GAMJOBS in addressing the employment challenge through access to
credit recently disbursed D900,000 to 22 ex-crop members to start set up their
businesses atceremony held at NYSScamp, Bakau.
the beneficiaries, the SoS for Youth and Sport, Honourable Sheriff ML Gomez,
reminded the gathering that the Government of The Gambia through his Department
of State has been working tirelessly over the years to meet the growing demand
of young people. He said that this has been achieved using different strategies
as far as employment is concerned. According to SOS Gomez, the government established
the NYSS in 1996 through an act of parliament to provide youths with marketable
skills for employment. The youth and sport boss told the beneficiaries that the
training they receive will equip them with the necessary tools to compete.
