The swearing-in ceremony of the 10th batch of NYSS corps members is scheduled to take place on Friday 13th November, at the Independence Stadium, commencing at 9.00 am prompt.
The ceremony which would be attended by Hon. Ministers, the Spanish Ambassador as Special Guest at the occasion and members of the Diplomatic Corp, will witness presentations by the Hon. Minister for Youth and Sports Sheriff M.L. Gomez, Mr. Musa Mbye, the Executive Director for the NYSS and also the administration of the NYSS Oath to the corps members by his Lordship Chief Justice of The Gambia.
According to a press release from the NYSS, the swearing-in ceremony does not only bring to an end the six weeks orientation programme, which started on 25th September 2009, but also marks the commencement of the skills training programme.
During the period, corps members were put through a regulated camp environment and introduced to leadership skills and good practices.
In addition to this, they received introductory lecturers in all specialised areas offered by the National Youth Service Scheme.
