Belgian
friends of Manjai Nyodema Nursery School recently donated teaching and learning
materials to the school as part of its regular support to the nursery school.
Mariama
Secka-Darboe, headmistress of Manjai Nyodema Nursery School, said it is now a
routine that every November, the Belgian friends of the school will bring some
materials to them.
She
said the Belgian friends, in addition to annually giving the school teaching
and learning materials, has equipped the school with some computers to be able
to connect to the internet.
She
noted that thanks to the Belgian friends, the nursery school is now up to the
standard of any good nursery school in terms of learning materials and the
school environment.
The
headmistress said the school has committed and dedicated teaching staff but the
parents need to complement the efforts of teachers by making sure that the
children take their education seriously at home.
Bubacarr
Jarju of the Regional Education Directorate, Region One, said it is now left to
the parents to support the school by regularly engaging children to be doing
their homework instead of watching television all the time at home.
He
said parents should never lose sight of the fact that giving their children
education is one of the surest way of building good future for them.
Mr
Jarju further urged parents to be regularly visiting their children in school
in order for them to know more about what the children do in school by
interacting with the teachers.
