Allegedly attempted rape case adjourned

The trial of one Lamin Dibba, who was alleged to have committed multiple criminal offences, was on 9 March 2011 adjourned before Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court.

It would be recalled that Mr Dibba pleaded not guilty of charges of impersonation, robbery and attempting to rape, and was subsequently remanded in custody.

When the case was called, the prosecuting officer, Cpl 3084 Ceesay, announced that she was holding brief for Sergeant Kinteh.

She informed the court that the prosecutor in the case was absent from court and that she was applying for an adjournment.

The case was subsequently adjourned till 31 March 2011.

According to the particulars of offence on count one, the accused, Lamin Dibba, on 27 January 2011, at Latrikunda German, falsely represented himself to Lamin Jammeh and Isatou Kanteh as a police officer, knowing that such representation was false.

Count two indicated that the accused on the same date and place, robbed Lamin Jammeh and Isatou Kanteh by forcefully taken her bracelet valued at D550, necklaces valued at D250, cash amount of D150 and a veil valued at D150, all amounting to D1,100.

According to count three, the accused, on the same date and place, attempted to rape Isatou Kanteh, by trying to have a carnal knowledge of her.
