Two early-goal strike from the New England Revolution was more than enough for a victory for the Revs, as they sailed past D.C. United 2-0 Saturday.

Zack Schilawski opened the scores in the 8th minute; Shalrie Joseph doubled the Revs’ advantage nine minutes later.

Sainey Nyassi nearly created another goal for the Revs, but his shot was deflected on the way to goal, and DC keeper Onstad was able to cover the ball with two Revs lurking, waiting for a rebound to ensure the victory, goal.com stated.

United pulled one back in second half stoppage time as once again, through Gambian-US star Charlie Davies, who scored from the penalty spot.

Twin brother Sanna Nyassi’s Colorado Rapids beat Chivas USA for the fourth consecutive time, allowing the reigning MLS Cup champion to escape California with three points

Quincy Amarikwa scored the game’s only goal for the Rapids.

The Colorado Rapids, who will also take part in the US Open cup, will host DC United on April 4, 2011.

Toronto FC’s 2011 home opener against Momodou Futi Danso’s Portland Timbers was a thing to remember when Javier Martina scored a brace in his second MLS appearance, on Saturday at the BMO field.

The Portland Timbers had the majority of the ball but were unable to take advantage of their possession.
