Gambia international attacker Njogu Demba has moved from Danish side Esbjerg to Swedish club IK Brage in the January transfer window.
He played three seasons for Esbjerg two of which were at the second division until the team was able to gain promotion to the first division this season.
Njogu Demba-Nyren who was originally to train only with Brage to stay in shape, has now joined the club on a permanent switch and will thus represent IK Brage, the club’s website has revealed.
Reports on the club’s official website further pointed out: “When we heard that Demba is wanted back home, there was no hesitation, says sports director Michael Brage Cold Brook. He will not only contribute on the football field in terms of quality, but will also have an important role as a mentor to the younger players in the squad.
He has done tremendous good impression and have their two days with the club come into the team in a good way. Demba and I have been driven to come to Brage, even if it meant a sharp reduction in wages for him. We’ll call him a returnee although he has not previously represented IK Brage.
Although Demba-Nyren has turned 33, he has incredibly much football left in him.
He has match play and training proved to maintain a high standard.
For the season 2013, IK Brage to get a top class attacking pair in Demba-Nyren and Dragan Kapcevic.
His career took off when he left Falu BS as a young boy in favour of BK Hacken, where he was playing with Dulé Johnson.
After playing in BK Hacken, Demba-Nyren represented clubs including Aris Thessanloniki and AO in the Greek Super true, Levski in Bulgaria, Odense and Esbjerg fB in the Danish Super League, Brann SK in the Norwegian Tippeligaen and Notts County in England (where he played the former great player Paul Ince).
He has also played several European League matches, both qualifying and group stage.”
Demba-Nyren is currently part of the squad.
The team is getting set to play in the domestic championship Svenska Cupen, which is expected to start in March.
They are expected to meet IFK Goteborg before taking on Kalmar and Nykoping.
Brage will play Angelholm in the Swedish Superettan in April.
