The long awaited National Inter-departmental Sports Association football final will finally be played on Friday between the Gambia Armed Forces and NAWEC at the Serekunda East Mini-stadium.
The third-place match will also be played on the same venue and day before the final encounter.
According to the organisers of the twenty-four-team tournament, the winner of this year’s competition will represent the country at a regional tournament expected to take place in Senegal before the end of the year.
It would be recalled that last year the regional tournament was played and won by the Gambia Immigration Department in the Senegalese city of Thies.
The delay in this year’s competition was due to several appeals filed by participating teams against each other, but the organizing committee was able to “amicably deal with all the appeals in a transparent and fair manner”.
The final is expected to be graced by managing directors of the participating departments and public offices and other dignitaries.
