district Chief in Central River Region (CRR) north, Alhagi Pierre Bah have
encouraged the people of his district to be active environmental protectors and
distance themselves from burning the bush.
He
said bush fire causes serious damage to the forest cover and can kill and drive
away the wildlife animals. “Bush fire also causes low rainfall, affect
agricultural development and contribute to environmental hazard,” Chief Bah
said at a meeting in wassu.
He
said burning the natural resources, especially the bush can lead to great lost
to people because it affects the socioeconomic development in the country.
He
encouraged the community authorities to protect the bush from destruction so
that people can derive the much needed benefit from it.
