Members of the New Apostolic Church in The Gambia recently converged at the OB Samega Janneh Memorial Hall in Bundung to celebrate the Day of the Youth (DOTY).
As part of the event, participants also observed special prayers for the departed souls.
Speaking on the occasion, the president of the church, Jens Lindemann, said they were able to mobilise two thousand youths from all walks of life.
Mr Lindemann added that he came all the way from Germany with eleven German youths to celebrate the day in The Gambia.
"This will be repeated in every five years," he said, adding that the objective of the celebration was to know each other, rejoice together and strengthen their faith.
According to him, one of the pillars of the Apostolic is to forgive each other and practise the love of God.
For his part, Alphones Mendy, a youth leader, says the main aim of the youth movement is to get themselves united under one umbrella.
They do this to promote the youth wing and to promote and sensitise people about their religion.
The programme drew people from across the country, he said, calling on the youths to speak with one voice to avoid confusion, as well as to pray for the maintenance of peace in The Gambia.
