The 2012 National Youth Conference and Festival, Nayconf, initially scheduled for December 14-22 has been postponed, with a new date yet to be confirmed.
A press release issued to this paper on Friday evening by the National Youth Council (NYC) and the National Organizing Committee of the 2012 Nayconf, also informed the public that Nayconf 2012 will now be held in Bansang, and not Janjangbureh, in the Central River Region.
“After due and thorough consultations with stakeholders in youth work, a decision has been reached for the National Organizing Committee of the National Youth Conference and Festival ( NAYCONF) 2012 to host the forthcoming National Youth Conference and Festival in Bansang, Central River Region”.
The dispatch said that the decision is believed to be in the best interest of the teeming mass of young people, that are already gearing up for the biennial event.
“Consequently, to ensure a successful event the initial date of the 14th to 22nd December is postponed to allow the local organizing committee in CRR enough time to work on necessary logistics.
“The date of the event will be announced in due course. Any inconvenience this may cause is highly regretted.
“The National Youth Council takes this opportunity to re-assure the general public, particularly the youth, of its absolute commitment to promoting the general welfare and development of the youth of The Gambia,” the release added.
