Milan FC 100 percent record start to the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) Nawetan competition on Wednesday ended as they lost 2-1 to Wales FC at the East Park.

Tamsir Badjie opened the score line for Wales FC in the 13th minute of the game, but skipper Papa Salif Badjie leveled the score line for Milan FC in the 31st minute of the game; and thus the first half ended 1-1.

Defender Habib Jah sealed the victory for Wales FC in the 56th minute of the game, from a powerful header to earn his side their second win of the competition.

Milan FC were reduced to ten men in the 70th minute of the game, when Aba Sanneh was sent off after being shown the yellow card for a second bookable offence.

Wales FC have now collected six points in three games, while Milan FC collected nine points in four encounters.

Speaking to Ibrahim Kalilu Dumbuya, head coach of Milan FC, shortly after the game, he said he did not feel bad despite losing, because he came with his game plan to collect the three points, but “this is football”.

“With my nine points I sit comfortably, and come the next match we will be out to collect the maximum three points”, he added, noting that every game is important to them as far as the nawettan is concerned.

“The group is still open, and we still have to come out and capitalize on our chances in our next game to get another three points”, he remarked.

“I did not underestimate our opponents; I respect them, because in football the victory can go either way”, he stated, adding that this time it is a different football with Milan FC, because there have been a lot of changes.

“I heard that Milan FC has not been winning anything, but I’m afraid the trophy drought is coming to an end”, he said, while urging the fans to keep supporting the team.

Pap Barrow, assistant coach of Wales FC said he was happy with the win, because they are the first team that defeated Milan FC, adding that this was what they have been looking for, because they also lost their last game against Medina FC.

He added that they made a mistake against Medina FC, and were punished, but that they knew they needed the three points against Milan FC, and could not let that mistake happen to them again.

He further stated that the game was difficult, but that they needed the three points more than Milan FC, adding that their aim this year is to win a trophy.

When asked whether his players were not fit for the game, because they have been going down all the time, he said those were strategies, because they were leading and wanted to waste the time.

He concluded by calling on the fans of Wales FC to come out in their large numbers to support the team.
