Men Docked For Alleged Fraud

Two men, Pa Madou Saine and Shiekh Ngum were last Thursday arraigned before Principal Magistrate B. Mahoney of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, for charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and obtaining money by false pretence.

The particulars of thealleged offence on count one, reads that the duo in the month of August 2008, at Bakau and diverse places, jointly conspired together to commit a felony by obtaining money by false pretence.

While on count two, the alleged offence stated that, the duo in the month of August 2008, at Bakau and diverse place with intent to defraud obtained the sum of D192, 800 from one Badara Jeng with the promise of taking him to Europe, when the said promise was false.

Both accused denied the charges.

Meanwhile, the accused persons were granted court bail in the sum of D200, 000, with one Gambian surety.

The case was adjourned to 1st July 2009.
