The Gambia senior national team has made tremendous improvement after jumping 14 places (125) from their last month’s Fifa rankings to 111, according to the latest Fifa rankings released yesterday.

Coach Paul Put and his charges have also registered some significant progress moving from 31 to 25 at the continental level.

The move is undoubtedly the highest adventure for The Gambia in as many releases.

This followed the Scorpions’ exciting 1-1 draw at the expense of Stallions of Burkina Faso in the final leg of the just ended AFCON qualifiers en route to the continental showdown due to take place in Gabon\Equatorial Guinea next year.

The Gambia will once again be missing for the final spot of the AFCON tournament after failing to make any positive impact during the qualifying campaign amid poor showing in Namibia and Ougadougou prior to securing a stalemate result in Banjul few days ago.
