Magistrate Babucarr Secka of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court recently convicted and sentenced one Momodou Camara to a mandatory jail term of five years for shop breaking and stealing.
The facts of the case as narrated by the prosecuting officer, CPL 358 Sarr, stated that on 24 February 2011, the complainant went to his shop at the Brikama Central Market and found that his shop was broken into and some items stolen.
He said the complainant reported the matter to the police and during investigation, they found the items in possession of one Abdoulie Camara, who was arrested.
CPL Sarr added that during the interrogation, Abdoulie Camara told the police that the items were given to him by the convict, Momodou Camara, whom he said was also arrested and taken to the Brikama Police Station.
He said the convict, Momodou Camara, confessed stealing the said items and led the police to recover some of them.
