Man in court for possession of forged banknotes

One Karanta Darboe was yesterday arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Jaiteh, charge with purchasing forged banknotes.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused, Karanta Darboe, on 4 March 2015 at Brikama Newtown, at the Jah Oil Petrol Station, in the Kombo Central district of the West Coast Region, without lawful authority or excuse had in his possession 13 notes of forged 10,000 CFA franc banknotes equivalent to D10,400 knowing them to be forged, and thereby committed an offence.

He denied the charge and was granted bail in the sum of D100,000 with Gambian sureties, who should deposit their Identity card.

The case continues today 8 April 2015
