Three Swedish nationals led by BeGe Nilsson and Margaret Nilsson recently donated learning materials to the Roots Nursery and Arabic schools in Madiana Village in the West Cost Region.

The donated items included notebooks and pens.

BeGe and Maggan have brought to The Gambia numerous small, medium and large-scale projects in education, sport, agriculture and health.

BeGe is the director of an initiative to donate and support the community of Madiana in partnership with their family members and institutions.

More than one hundred children, youths and adults stormed the Madiana premises to receive the books and pens.

Speaking at the presentation of the donated items, BeGe Nilsson told the community that his part is to bring sponsors, collect and ship materials to help the community.

BeGe also expressed delight at being able to do so much for the community, saying he was confident they would continue to help the people of Madiana.

Tijan Saidy, head teacher of the Madiana Arabic School, thanked the philanthropists for their kind donation.

Modou Kolley, head teacher of the nursery school, explained that the friends have been helping the Madiana community and their children, which is a great thing for the villages.

Head teacher of Roots Nursery told the visitors that what made the relationship between them and BeGe and Maggan special was that both parties believe that one sure way of transforming a nation and building a better society is through education.

This is a great thing to the Madiana community as it will help their children to have more learning materials and enhance their studies and acquisition of knowledge.

He also thanked BeGe for the support and his friends and relatives who accompanied him to the school.

Mr Kolley assured the donors of a proper upkeep of the school, while thanking them for their continued support.
