Magistrate Bojang of the Kanifing Magistrates’
Court recently convicted and sentenced one Mbye Tamba to a fine of D3,000 in
default to serve three months in prison, after he was found guilty of
attempting to commit a felony.
In his mitigation plea, he begged the court to temper justice with mercy, adding that he committed the crime unconsciously, as he was drunk at the time.
He has a wife with kids and his three brothers who all depend on him.
The charge sheet stated that on 17 September 2014, at Kerr Serign in the Kanifing Municipality, he jumped into the compound of one Muhammed Sowe with intent to commit a felony.
