A man was recently convicted and sentenced to a fine of D1,500 in default to serve three months in prison by the Bundung Magistrates' Court presided over by Magistrate Foster.
Alieu Fofana, who pleaded guilty to the charge of assault, was also ordered to compensate the complainant with D1,000.

He said the complainant, Funeh Sonko, was passing by the convict's compound, when she was ordered by him to drive away the goat that were eating his flowers.
Officer Jarju said further that the complainant refused to do so and told the convict that "you have two legs".
The convict then insulted the complainant, who also returned the insult and subsequently the convict hit the complainant with his fist on her eye, the prosecutor explained.
The matter, he said, was reported to the Bakoteh Police Station and Funeh was later referred to hospital where she was treated and discharged with a medical certificate issued to her.
The convict begged the court to temper justice with mercy saying he was a first time offender.
