Magistrate Orders Accused to be re-arrested

Magistrate Kayode of the Brikama Magistrates' Court on Monday December 1stordered the police to re-arrest Saikou Trawally an accused person standing trial at the Brikama Magistrates' Court, on the charges of travel. The statement of the offence is that Trawally, along with three other persons, attempted to defraud a total sum of D97, 800 between the year's 2005 and 2006.

The case was supposed to resume on Monday could not proceed due to the absence of the accused and as a result the presiding Magistrate ordered the police to re-arrest him.

The Magistrate orders follow numerous absences from court by the accused person. The Magistrate told the court that since the accused was granted bail he has not set foot at the hearing and as a result, the bail condition that he was enjoying was revoked and "he should be sent to Mile 2," the Magistrate said.
