Late Fatou Mbye Memorial tournament update

Foroyaa Newspaper yesterday thrashed the Media Selection team 4-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium in the second edition of the Gambia Press Union (GPU) sponsored Late Fatou Mbye Memorial Tournament.

The tournament was organised by the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia (SJAG).

Foroyaa Newspaper took the lead through Yusupha Bojang in the 9th minute of the game while Alphonse Krubally made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute of the game to give his side a 2-0 advantage at half time.

Famara Sanyang dashed the hopes of the Media Selection team in the 44th minute of the game when he netted the third goal for Foroyaa Newspaper while Abdoulie Colley sealed the victory for Foroyaa in the 50th minute.

In the earlier kick-off of the same day at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, Unique FM defeated Terenga FM 2-1.

Alhagie Jallow gave Unique FM the lead in the 11th minute of the game while Amadou Wuyeh Manga helped to seal the 2-0 win for is side in the 20th minute from a penalty.

Papis Ceesay scored Terenga FM's consolation goal.

In the opening game of the tournament at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda on Saturday 4 December 2010, West Coast Radio defeated Paradise FM 2-0, while KWT Radio defeated Daily Observer/Gambia Info 3-0 on post-match penalty shootout following a goaless draw.
