Police
prosecutor Sub-inspector Alpha Badjie yesterday told the court that the case
file of Lang Conteh was yet to received from the Attorney General’s Chambers,
where it was sent for legal advice.
Consequently, he applied for an adjournment.
Lang Conteh, a former general manager at Kanilai Family Farms, was recently arraigned for theft, at the Banjul magistrates’ court before magistrate Lamin Mbai.
When the case was called, the defence counsel, LK Mboge, said the case was set for hearing, but he would not oppose the application for adjournment.
The trial was then adjourned to 19 August 2014.
The charge sheet read that Lang Conteh, some time between 2012 and 2013 in Banjul, stole an amount of D1, 538, 804.95, being the property of the Kanilai Family Farms, and thereby committed an offence.
He denied the charge, and was granted bail of D2 million with two Gambian sureties who swore to an affidavit of means.
