The charge sheet read in court stated that Lang Conteh, sometime between 2012 and 2013 in the city of Banjul, stole D1, 538, 804. 95 being the property of Kanilai Family Farms, and thereby committed an offence.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant 3470 Badjie, told the court that the accused person was an employee of Kanilai Family Farms, as the general manager, and during his tenure in office had stolen more than one million dalasis from the company.
He added that the prosecution was opposed to bail, and urged the court not to grant the accused person bail, as he could interfere with the witnesses.
The defence counsel, LK Mboge, asked the court to grant his client bail.
The presiding magistrate, in his ruling, remanded Lang Conteh at the remand wing of the state central prisons Mile 2.
The case was adjourned to 21 July 2014, for continuation of the hearing.
