The annual Lamin Noran football tournment is entering the semi-finals stage, according to the head of the organizing committee, Yahya Manneh, who said this year’s tourney has registered one of the greatest successes, as far as grassroots football is concerned in both performance and participants’ attitude.

Among their great achievements is that the committee has been organizing the noran football for 10 years this year in Lamin.

As regards participants attitude, he reported that the committee registered 13 cautions and only one (1) expulsion in the first round up to the quarter-finals stage, which comprised 28 matches played by 16 registered teams within Lamin and its satellites villages.

Performance-wise, 63 goals were scored at the group stage up to the quarter-finals stage, and the only match that did not produce a goal was the Oultlaw Boys against Super Stars match, which was match number10 of the group stage.

The most impressive player of all was a boy from KGH Sports Football Academy, Modou Lamin Ceesay, who was able to score a double hard-trick in two matches and a lone goal in the quarter finals, taking his tally to 7 goals from 3 matches. He is presently the leading goal scorer in the tourney.

In the semi-finals line up, on Saturday 14th February 2015, Wayeto West will face Universal Football Academy; defending champions KGH Sports will take on debutants, Real di Babilon FC on Sunday 15th February 2015 at the Late Sanna Jatta Memorial football field in Lamin.

All matches start at 5 pm.

The head of the organizing committee is pleading with football enthusiasts to come to the aid of the committee in sponsoring the Lamin league, which has not got any sponsorship since inception in 2005.

He also promised, with the efforts of his committee members, to make this year’s finals a memorable one, as it marks a decade of achievement in grassroots football for the noran committee.

The final is on Saturday 28th February 2015.
