Kombo South District Sports Committee (KSDSC) on 9 September 2012 held a meeting ahead of the 2012 Kombo South District football tournament at the Gunjur Upper Basic School.

Speaking at the meeting, the secretary general of the KSDSC, Omar Jammeh, said the meeting was meant to discuss the proposed Kombo South district football and champions league to be competed in by league and knockout champions from all villages in the district.

According to Jammeh, they also want to organise women’s tournament and wrestling championship.

Kombo South Wrestling team was crowned champions of the West Coast Region Wrestling competition after securing 70 points, he noted, saying their trophy was presented to the chief of Kombo South, Alhagie Mustapha Touray.

The chairman of KSDSC, Buba Bada Bojang, advised his executive members to put sentiments aside in order to have a successful tournament.

Bojang also advised his executive members to keep the secret of the committee, saying doing so will enable them to register a successful district tournament.

“In order to register a successful district tournament we need to keep the secret of the committee and also to put our team sentiments aside but ifwe fail to do so it is going to be very hardto register a successful tournament,” Bojang pointed out.
