Kombo South District Sports Committee (KSDSC) recently decorated Gunjur Radio Station Jannehkoto FC with certificate for their contribution towards the development of sport in the district.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Gunjur Day Care Centre, the outgoing chairperson of the KSDSC, Buba Bada Bojang, said Gunjur Radio Station Jannehkoto FM were awarded with certificate for their immense contribution to `the development of sport in the district.
Bojang said the FM radio station is doing “extremely well” in promoting sport in the district; as a result the committee decided to award them with certificate for the laudable contribution to the development of sport in the district.
Bojang thanked Maw Bayo, a native of Jambanjelly village, for his contribution towards restructuring the KSDSC some years ago when there was no active district sports committee.
For his part, the KSDSC Secretary General, Omar B. Jammeh, said his committee had staged two inter-village football tournaments won by Sifoe back to back in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.
Jammeh said his committee had also settled the problem between Sifoe Sports Committee and Dipop FC and the dispute between Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association and Nyokoyorr FC, as well as restructured Kartong Sports Committee.
The presentation ceremony was witnessed by the president of West Coast Region Football Association, Abdoukarim Sey, the 2nd vice president of West Coast Region Sports Committee, Lamin Marong, and West Coast Region Sports Committee member Seedy Manneh.
