Karl FC and South Africa FC have both booked their places to the next stage of the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) Nawetaan Qualifiers after beating their opponents in their second round encounters played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium recently.
Karl FC beat Shop Bi FC 5-4 on post match penalty shootout after settling for a 1-1 draw on regulation time in a keenly and well-contested encounter played at the East Park.
Shop Bi took the lead just seconds after the kick off with Lamin Ceesay opening the scoring from a sensible finish after fellow striker Banja Njie had beat goalkeeper Bakary Manneh.
Karl FC fought back and their struggle was finally rewarded with an equalizer through Saihou Ceesay in the 17th minute thanks to a fine strike that left goalkeeper Ebrima Ceesay, helpless.
The second half was dominated by Shop Bi FC forcing Karl FC on their toes.
Banja Njie and Saikou Jaiteh both had shots saved by goalkeeper Bakary Manneh thus the game ended 1-1 resulting in a post match penalty shootout which ended 5-4 in favour of Karl FC.
The win means Karl FC have advanced to the next stage of the qualifiers which is being played in a knockout format.
In the 3pm encounter, South Africa FC defeated Eagles Stars 4-3 on a penalty shootout to join Karl FC in progressing to the next stage of the qualifiers.
Eagles Stars took the lead through Pa Amat Njie in the 11th minute of the game while skipper Ebrima Jadama, cancel the score for South Africa FC in the 39th minute.
Mustapha Bah made it 2-2 for Eagles Stars when he scored a classic free kick.
