Steve Biko will rub-shoulders with fellow relegation fighters Africell in the week twenty fixtures of the GFA top tier League in what is sure to witness yet another tense Bakau derby game at the Independence Stadium today.
The two neighbours both enter today’s clash on the back of defeats against their respective opponents Real De Banjul and Young Africans. However this tie is likely to produce a fantastic encounter as both sides are determined to maintain their places in the country’s top flight football next season.
The Bakau giant killers as Biko is widely called are two points clear off Africell who could move ahead of their neighbours should they win their game in hand against Gamtel but today’s clash will go a long way in trying to determine the fate of the relegation battlers, (Biko on 17 points and Africell on 15 points with a game in hand).
Africell are currently struggling at the bottom of the league standings with 15 points in nineteen games and they will be aiming to beat Biko to put their relegation hope alive while a win for Biko will definitely see them move up to 20 points.
The 2008-2009 Gambia Football Association division one league champions Armed Forces will come face to face with Wallidan at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Armed Forces are 4th position on the League standings with 26 points in nineteen games.
The blue boys as they are known will be hoping to bounce back after five consecutive defeats dented their title ambition. The setbacks have also seen them dropped to fifth position on 24 points in nineteen games two points behind Armed Forces.
Elsewhere, Gamtel will meet Samger in the other week twenty fixtures at the Banjul Mini Stadium that same day.
Gamtel are 6th position on the League standings with 22 points in nineteen games with two games in hand against Africell and Bakau United respectively.
