The jewelry theft case involving one Mariama Nyassi resumed recently at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

In her testimony, the complainant, Fatou Touray, told the court that some time in January 2012, she wanted to go for a wedding and when she checked for her necklaces, she found that they were missing.

She added that she then called her niece, Kaddy Jatta, and asked her about the said items and her niece told her she saw them with the accused, Mariama Nyassi, who was her housemaid.

She added that the next day she reported the matter to the police station from where she was escorted by two CID officers to the accused’s house.

She added that when they searched the accused’s house, some of the items were recovered, which included a pair of shoes, two gold watches, and other items which were tendered as exhibits.

The case continues.
