Belgium first division side Mons will renew their pursuit for a laurel this season as they get set to take on Brussels FC on Friday at the Edmond Machtens-Stadion.

With Gambian international Mustapha Jarju scoring ten goals in 13 appearances this season, the side is 4th on the table with 30 solid points.

The 24-year-old Gambian star who has so far laid an impressive performance in the Belgian second tier is the leading goal scorer at club side.

Mons are enjoining a  five-point gap with leaders Lommel United and are bent on closing on the differences starting with Friday’s away match with lowly Brussels.

Ahead of Friday’s 16th fixtures, Mons is faced with injuries with the likes of star player Mael Lépicier, who is often bothered in the first round with a foot injury, according to club’s website.  He is ruled out of the game as he will be observing a complete rest of 3 to 4 weeks.

Franco-Congolese defender also suffered a sprained medial foot. A rest period was imposed on the player yesterday to enable faster recovery in time for the game.
