The ruling APRC party has endorsed President Yahya Jammeh as their candidate for the 2016 presidential election.

President Jammeh was nominated at an APRC congress held in Kanilai, his native village, on Thursday.

President Jammeh has won four elections so far. In 1996, he polled 56 per cent, in 2001 he got 53 per cent, in 2006 he got 67 per cent and in 2011 he got 71 per cent.
