Superintendent Ansumana Kinteh, Manager Interior Sports, has said he is confident Gambia’s long distance runner, Lamin Sanneh of the Gambia Police Force, will come out with flying colours in the July 22nd Marathon set to be held today, Wednesday.

He added that they were looking forward to receiving Sanneh sound and fit to compete in the competition.

Sanneh last Saturday landed in the country after competing in the Leeds half marathon in UK. The 21km race is going to be an interesting contest among runners from the various security outfits, he pointed out.

They welcome the challenge from the civil sector, he went on, but was confidently that Lamin Sanneh will be the winner “because he have been monitoring his progress both in and out of the Gambia.”

Kinteh revealed that they have been in constant contact with Lamin and Roy Sanyang (CEO Gambia Volunteers) who served as his manager for the UK marathon.

On behalf of the office of the Inspector General of Police and the entire Interior sporting fraternity, Kinteh thanked the organisers of the Bajana Marathon for facilitating Sanneh’s participation in the Leeds half marathon.

They are looking forward to having more sponsors in the next edition of the Bajana Marathon.

The athletes from Interior will participate in the third edition of the Bajana Marathon, and will capture first position in all categories, Kinteh went on.

“My men and women are ready for it”, he declared.
