Mar 23, 2011, 11:20 AM

The Insurance Association of The Gambia (IAG) is observing week-long insurance education campaign in the country in a move that would create more awareness on issues related to insurance.

The sensitization campaign would, no doubt, further increase the general public’s understanding of insurance and insurance policies to lay the foundation for building a cordial relationship between insurance providers and the public.

The Insurance Awareness Week (IAW), which is an inspirational industry campaign, will unite those who share an interest in elevating public awareness about the progress and benefits of the Gambia’s insurance industry.

The observance of IAW will create the much-needed education among the people on the importance of one insuring his or her life or property.

It is also a week that should serve as an opportunity for many to draw attention to the noble profession of insurance; including its contribution to the economy and benefits.

We are urging the public to take the opportunity to learn from IAG during the cause of the week, and gather more knowledge on insurance in general.

Since the campaign also seeks to inspire the next generation of insurers, improve appreciation of medical health insurance and prepare The Gambia for the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Insurance is a crucial service in the development of any nation, and our people should start realizing that.

When insured, one stands a better chance of recovering in case of an emergency, and exposure to risk.

It is always good to take precautionary measures one such is insurance.
