The Gambia Immigration Department has issued warning against moving within and outside the country without any identity document(s).
In a press release issued on Friday, the Immigration Department said it was observed that most people are in the habit of moving within and outside the country without any identity documents.
This, it said, is causing unnecessary confrontation with security officers conducting their normal routine screening.
“This practice must stop with immediate effect for security reasons,” it said, adding that this is unacceptable and an unlawful act.
The Immigration Department urges those in the habit of doing this to desist from the practice, further warning those who fail to comply that “the law shall take its course”.
It also asked for the cooperation and understanding of the general public.
