The
Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has given notice that three presidential
candidates have been deemed to be duly nominated to contest the presidential
election in The Gambia.
The
candidates are Mamma Kandeh, nominated by GDC with purple as the party’s colour
and an open calabash in two palms as the party’s symbol; Adama Barrow,
nominated independent candidate with grey as his colour and a right hand with
the index finger pointing upwards as his symbol, and Sheikh Prof Alh Dr Yahya
AJJ Jammeh Babili Mansa, nominated by APRC with green as his party’s colour and
a palm tree with a hoe and paddle as the party’s symbol.
The
election will take place on Thursday 1 December 2016, and the official Campaign
period starts on 16 November and ends on 29 November 2016.
