ICC Impress With Gambia Cricket Development Programme

The International Cricket Council has expressed delight at The Gambia's cricket developmental programme which focuses on efforts to promote the game at the grassroots level and national decentralisation process, during the ICC annual conference and centenary celebration recently at the Lord Cricket Ground in the UK. 

The annual conference and centenary celebration (ICC celebrations of 100 years of existence) for the first time brought together 104 members of the ICC under one roof for the first time in 100 years.

Johnny Gomez, the President of the Gambia Cricket Association who just returned from a world gathering, staged between 20 and 26 of last month was part of the ICC historical event.

"This was to help countries like The Gambia affiliates, to familiarise ourselves with the ICC protocols and meet with the Board of Trustees and test plain countries,"  the cricket supremo explained.

Johnny  "We had a meeting with the cricket county clubs in England and a request has been put to them to see how they can assist The Gambia in terms of equipment and development support".

The cricket boss also meet with Cassim Sulieman, the Regional Development Manager for North/West Africa, who is set to visit The Gambia and is expected to meetthe Gambia National Olympic Committee, National Sports Council and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
