The Smiling Coast Tours Sports Festival, staged on Saturday at the St. Peters Senior Secondary school's grounds has unearthed a demonstration of rich talents by participants in football, basketball and martial arts demonstration.
Jatta's Memorial emerged winners of the ten team football tournament after outclassing Jatta's Memorial One by a lone goal to zero.
St. Peter's Junior, KGH Sports 1, Jatta's FC, Jatta's Memorial, KGH Sports2, Brufut Gilkock, Banjul Gilkock, Obama FC and Late Antou Saidy Memorial contested in the U-15 football category.
The winners Jatta's Memorial 2 went away with a set of jersey, certificate, football and trophy. The best player of the tournament who is also from Jatta's FC received a pair of football boots.
Participating teams collected certificates and a football each.
The Gambia Martial Arts Academy who also staged a training and demonstration exhibition with Master Tung Dinh, a well- known talented Martial Arts Instructor (having attained the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt).
The exhibition took the form of a group rehearsal, individual demonstrations and performance on Taekwondo by Master Basiru Chio, Karate by Master Tung Dinh and Master Danso and Vovinam Viet-vo Vao.
There were board breaking exhibitions for kids and for Master Dinh.
The well attended one-day event, orgainsed and sponsored by the Smiling Coast Tour, is being funded by a Gambian based in the United States Pa-Lamin Sarr (CEO), who is set to bring tourists in the country annually to contribute to the socio-economic development of the Gambia, such as sports, culture and education.
The basketball tournament which is being competed by High Wall, Banjulunding, Old Hands, Juniors, Kings and South Central was expected to play its semis and final yesterday.
