Hotel cook testifies in theft case

One Alhagie Jammeh of Bakau Sanchaba, who works as a cook at Komba Beach Hotel, yesterday testified in the trial involving Almame Ceesay, Gibril Jatta, Maimuna Touray and Lamin Jallow, accused of stealing before Magistrate Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Jammeh told the court that he recognized the accused persons as supervisors at the said hotel, and could recalled what happened on 14 November 2014.

He said on the day in question, their personnel manager, Amie Conteh, met him in the kitchen and informed him that some CID officers told her that the people on duty on 14 November 2014 should be referred to Kotu Police Station, that their statements should be obtained.

Mr Jammeh further told the court that he was called by the police and interrogated pertaining to the issue, and he told them that he had no idea because he is attached at the kitchen responsible for food.

According to him, his statement was obtained at the police station.

The case was adjourned to 1 July 2015.
