Gunjurians in UK generate cash for Gunjur zonal team after clinching Super Nawettan

Gunjurians residing in the United Kingdom recently generated some cash for Gunjur zonal team following the team’s 2-1 triumph over Banjul in the final game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, on 28 October 2016 to clinch the 2016 FiBank-sponsored Super Nawettan title for the first time in their history.

The South boys came from one nil down to beat City boys 2-1 in a well-attended final at the country’s biggest football arena to claim their first-ever Super Nawettan crown since the inception of the tournament in 1992.

Right-back Essa Jallow gave Banjul the lead in the 18th minute of the game from penalty spot after Gunjur’s left-back Yusupha Touray alias Eso brought down Banjul’s wizard winger Assan Gaye inside the area to give his side the lead, before Salifu Bojang alias Bapa leveled matters for Gunjur four minutes before break to make the tally 1-all.

Striker Malang Jassey netted the winner for Gunjur in the 77th minute of the game from penalty spot after Banjul’s centre-back Modou Lamin B.S. Touray brought down Gunjur’s pacey winger Lamin Jallow alia Sako inside the area to inspire Gunjur to their first-ever Super Nawettan crow.

As a result of the team’s astonishing performance in the country’s community biggest football gala, Gunjurians in the United Kingdom have organised themselves and generate some funds to patronize the team after winning the country’s community biggest football fiesta for the first time in their history.

Gunjurians in the UK are also set to meet this weekend to decide when to send the cash to the sports committee after the town’s historic victory over Banjul in the 2016 FiBank-sponsored Super Nawettan final on 28 October 2016.

Meanwhile, Gunjurians in other parts of Europe and the United States of America are also set to patronize Gunjur zonal team with some cash after the team claimed their first-ever Super Nawettan crown.
