Gunjur Community Rugby Club have been crowned champions
of UK-organised Warrington Wolves Rugby Club tournament, after beating Gunjur
Upper Basic School Rugby Club 4-2 in a tightly contested final at the Gunjur
Nyamina Football Field on Tuesday.
The tournament was sponsored and organised by the Warrington Wolves Rugby Club of the United Kingdom in their bid to promote and develop rugby in The Gambia.
The much-awaited final game attracted spectators from Gunjur and its environs.
The game showed delightful exhibition of skills and talents by players from both sides but it was Gunjur Community Rugby Club who scored four goals to snatch the trophy from their opponents Gunjur Upper Basic School, who managed to score two goals to finish as runners-up.
As champions, Gunjur Community Rugby Club were crowned with a giant trophy and medals whilst runners-up Gunjur Upper Basic School received a trophy.
