The Gambia Scout Association recently donated non-food items including toys, swivel chairs, nursing equipment, office chairs, pillows, hospital beds, among others, to some institutions in the country.

The materials were donated to the Scout Association by the Danish Scout Association in collaboration with the Danish Government. The beneficiaries include the National Disaster Management Agency, Aji Awa Bah Nursery School, Mbowen Clinic, Sanyang Nursery School, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Chossan Nursery School, Brikama Police Command, Armitage Senior Secondary School, Girl Guide Skills Centre at Soma and Anne Vibe Nursery School.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at Bakoteh Little Tree Campus, the project co-ordinator, Pa Modou Bojang, stated that the donation is possible through the Danish Scout Association and the support of their Government. He added that without the Danish government’s support, it would be very difficult to ship the items from Denmark to The Gambia.

Mr. Bojang thanked the Gambia Government for giving them access to the items duty free. He further revealed that Armitage is their partner among the schools in the Gambia, noting that Armitage is the school for all, and thus they gave support to them. He finally urged all the beneficiaries to take care of the items, and put them into good use.

The Secretary General of the Gambia Scout Association, Semega Janneh, advised the beneficiaries to take care of the items, and further thanked both the Danish Scout Association and the Danish Government for their goodwill gesture.
