“I am very much proud to welcome these gallant champions after making history in Abidjan,” GNOC president Momodou Dibba said.
He made this remarks on Tuesday after the team met him at his office at the GNOC building at Mile 7 in Bakau.
“The Gambia has been always represented at the Olympics by wildcat and we want to stop that. Beach Volleyball is on the course of making it to the games so I will fully support the beach volleyball team to reach the apogee of success,” Dibba said.
The GNOC boss pledged to support the Federation’s National Beach Volleyball championship in December and further promised to camp the team outside The Gambia if they book ticket to Rio.
The 2nd vice president of GVBF, Bai Dodou Jallow, in his remarks, commended the Gambia National Olympic Committee for the financial support they have given to his Federation and assured them of his Federation’s continued partnership with them.
“We are grateful, and hope this great partnership will continue between our two organizations,” Jallow said. “We have felt a new sense of purpose towards volleyball in The Gambia and are motivated to do more than just getting the job done; we believe with GNOC’s support we can achieve great triumph for our country.”
The semi-final stage is billed to take place in January/February 2016.
