Mr. Amat S. Njie, the Finance Manager at the Gambia Groundnut Co-operation Limited was the fourth prosecution witness to brief the court in the ongoing criminal trial involving one Mr. Alieu BM John.
Mr. John is standing trial on 11-count charges ranging from fraud to forgery at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Ikpa.
Briefing the court, the fourth prosecution witness, Mr. Njie, said he works at the Gambia Groundnut Co-operation Limited as Finance Manager.
According to him, at the time of writing his statements to the police he was the Finance and Administration Manager.
He further adduced that, he recognised the accused and that the accused’s company supplied auto spare parts to GCC from September 2005 to September 2007.
He said there was written correspondence between the GGC and the accused. The corresponding documents were shown to him, which he recognised and was later tendered in court as exhibits without an objection.
Under cross examination by the Defence Counsel, Idrissa Sissoho, the prosecution witness admitted knowing the accused for more than 20 years, but never works with him.
The case was adjourned to 11th November 2009.
