GFA to Nominate Lang Tombong Tamba for GNOC Presidency

The Gambia Football Association, the biggest association in the country backed by other national federations, have named Major General Lang Tombong Tamba as candidate for the Gambia National Olympic Committee presidency, Pointsport was reliably informed.

Nomination of Lang Tombong Tamba who is also the 1st Vice President of the Gambia Football Association, came following the retirement of former President Abou Dandeh Njie last month, making the position open for election in June.

The Gambia Football Association under the leadership of SeedyMB Kinteh, have been making significant strides in football in the country and the recent Fifa rankings and the U-17 championship is a clear manifestation of the present development of Gambian football.

George Gomez, Executive Director of the Gambia National Olympic Committee yesterday told Pointsport that they are receiving nominations from national associations pointing out that the dead line for nominations is in mid- April as nominations should be forwarded 45 days before the congress, which is to take place on the 3rd of June.

"Some nominations are yet to be made by associations and am appealing to them to come forward and to make the right choice in their nominations," he stated.
