GFA super cup January 3rd

The defending champions Armed Forces will play against FA Cup title holders Young Africans, in the highly anticipated 2009\10 GFA Super Cup final, billed for Sunday 3rd January 2010, at the country’s biggest football arena, the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Armed Forces which is participating in the upcoming CAF African Champions League competition will face Young Africans in the traditional curtain-raiser which paves the way for the much-awaited Gambia Football Association’s Division One League Championship.

The Division One League will be in five different venues namely, Serrekunda East and West mini stadiums, Manjai Kunda Mini Stadium, Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium, as well as the Independence Stadium, starting from Saturday 9th January 2009.

Young Africans entered last year's FA Cup competition as underdogs, but proved doubters wrong with some spectacular displays, which saw them knock so-called big teams out of the championship, and went ahead to be crowned the champions to the surprise of many football pundits.

Sunday's Super Cup final is expected to feature a titanic encounter when they face Armed Forces the league champions.
