Banjul United came from behind to share points against Gunjur United in the Gambia Football Association (GFA) second division league after a 1-1 draw in their re-scheduled Week 16 fixtures game played at the Brikama Mini Stadium on Tuesday.
It was a crunch clash as both sides are struggling in the relegation zone and are fighting for survival to avoid demotion to the third division next season.
Gunjur United opened the score through winger Basiru Touray, alias Cesec Fabregas in the 65th minute of the game from a stunning strike to give his side the lead.
Banjul United responded back for an equaliser and levelled the score through Abubacarr Saidy in the 77th minute of the game to cancel out Basiru Touray’s 65th minute opener.
Banjul United have now climbed to 7th position with 16 points in seventeen games while Gunjur United are still rooted second from bottom with 14 points in seventeen games, a single point behind 8th position Latrikunda United, who have bagged 15 points in seventeen games with one more game to go.
Banjul United and Gunjur United need to win their last games to stand a better chance of remaining in the second tier next season.
