Recently,
a group of Gambian referees underwent fitness training at the Independence

The training was conducted with the use of electronic machines to register every move of the referees.
Former Gambia international referee who is also a FIFA /CAF referee fitness instructor, Modou Sowe, said the fitness training which they plan to stage once every week will help Gambian referees prepare well before any international duties.
As part of the training, the referees did an exercise on 40m Run in 6 seconds with electronic timing.
They also held a 150m run, for at least 10 minimum laps and 12 maximum laps, which everyone is expected to pass or will not play the league or go international.
