Gambian athletes open contest today in Delhi

Nine Gambian athletes are currently set to represent the country in the Commonwealth games in Delhi, India.

The athletes will open up their contest today, according to information reaching Pointsport from India this morning.

The nine athletes who left Banjul few days ago for the India Athletics championship will participate in various events such as track events.

The events in heats, semi-finals and finals will narrow the field for aspirants for the 48 gold medals, including six for Elite Athletes with a Disability.

All athletics events are to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. Events such as sprints, middle distance, long distance, hurdles, relay, jumps and throws among others are also expected to take centre stage during the championship.

The nine Gambian athletes set to raise high the flag of the country at such a high profile athletics meet are Saruba Colley, Fanny Shonobi, Ismaila Manga, Ousman Gibba, Suwaibou Sanneh, Abdoulie Assim, Lamin Camara, Lamin Darboe and Baba Gibba.
